I am 15 years old, 5 ft 9 in and 140 lbs.

I trained from July 1st-July 24th. I am doing lots of strength training (arms, shoulders, chest, back, arms, abs) x2 a week. Also jogging, sprinting, and jump rope x3 a week. Buying a spin stationary bike this weekend.

I have 22 days before tryouts, want to make the most out of these 22 days. I want to be sore the next day because I am pushing myself so hard, but I will take rest off those muscles for a few days.

On May 15th I weighed 143 lbs. Hardly worked out in April-May, but stayed active. Began really working out in July. I now weight 140 lbs now, I lost weight. I am doing lots of strength training and not as much cardio so I don’t lose muscle. Having WHEY protein after every workout. Am I not eating enough? I am eating relatively healthy, I don’t want to eat too much or I feel fat. I eat lots of pasta, meat, yogurt, fruit, vegetables, bread, etc.

Advice and tips are much appreciated, I have an important year in hockey next year and want to feel great going into tryouts in three weeks.

Thanks.
I have only worked out twice since the 24th due to family issues, but I am going to work out every day pretty much til tryouts now.

Hockey tryouts are 3 weeks away, need tips and advice for training?

I just started playing and I LOVE IT! I have no idea why, to be honest i suck at it! I started training hard for it; I run at least 3-5 miles a day 5 days a week, weight train 3 days a week, I’ve adjusted my diet to match, and I’m starting hockey classes soon. So my question is what else should i do to improve my game? I was thinking of buying Hockey For Dummies……..

One key to learning any skill is to start by doing it properly. Practice fakes and moves against partial resistance until the movement is smooth- then increase your speed.
